Family Connect

Privacy, in plain words

Family Connect lets up to 6 family members send photos to a parent’s Funstead Games app. These are often photos of grandchildren, so we keep as little as we can and protect what we keep.

What we keep

• Your email address and first name. The email signs you in (there is no password). Your first name is shown with your photos, like “From Sarah”.
• The photos you add, with their captions. Before a photo leaves your phone or computer, our website makes it smaller and removes its location and camera details. We keep only the day it was taken, if the photo says so.
• The family’s settings: the family’s name, what you call your parent (“Mom”), which games are pinned or hidden, and who is in the family.
• About your parent’s phone: a random connection code (no name, no phone number, no account), the app version, when it last checked for photos, and which photos it used or skipped.
• “Played today”, only if your parent turns it on on their phone: the date they last played. Never which game or for how long.
• A family activity list (“Sarah added 4 photos”), kept for a year, and short-lived technical logs for security.

What we never do

• We never make a photo public. Every photo link is private, expires within two hours and stops working the moment the photo is removed.
• We never look for faces on our servers. Your parent’s phone finds faces itself so photos are framed nicely, and that information never leaves the phone.
• No ads, no tracking, no selling or sharing your information, and no training of AI on your photos.
• No accounts for children. Family Connect accounts are for adults (18 or older), and we delete any account we learn belongs to a child under 13.

Who can see the photos

Only the members of your family, and your parent on their connected phone. Funstead staff look at a photo only if someone reports it, or if the law requires it.

Where it’s stored

With Cloudflare (photos and data, encrypted at rest and in transit, in the United States) and Postmark (to send sign-in emails). They act on our instructions only.

How long we keep it

• Photos stay until someone removes them, the family is deleted, or they are older than the family’s newest 1,000 photos. Removed photos are erased from our storage right away (backups and retries finish within 30 days).
• Photos already on your parent’s phone stay there unless they’re removed from the family, or the family is deleted.
• If Family Connect ever closes, we will give at least 90 days’ notice and a way to download every photo.

Your choices

• Remove a photo you added (or any photo, if you organize the family). It leaves your parent’s phone too.
• Download everything: all photos as a ZIP, and your account data, in Settings.
• Delete your account or delete the whole family in Settings, any time. See Delete your data.
• Your parent can hide or report any photo, stop photos from one person, and disconnect, all from their phone.
• Photos of someone else? Please add them only with their permission (or their parent’s, for a child). Anyone can ask us to remove a photo of themselves or their child at support@funsteadgames.com.
